National Wreaths Across America in The Ville

Updated: Jul 10

It was a beautiful day in our neighborhood - Ubuntu Cultural Pavilion, Inc. sponsored 10 wreaths and it was truly an honor to participate in this most meaningful event.

We were out and about at The New Cemetery of Somerville for National Wreaths Across America Day. The New Cemetery of Somerville program was hosted by Somerville Elks Lodge 1068 with 330+ remembrance wreaths sponsored for the event.

We were in excellent company with the Brothers of Iota Phi Theta. We were able to share the rich history of the formerly segregated section (Lilac Path) within the New Cemetery, where wreaths adorned the graves of veterans, including those who served during the Civil War. The Brothers of Iota Phi Theta have been actively involved in this annual tradition for multiple years, volunteering at a different host site each year.

We look forward to this annual event to "Remember, Honor and Teach."
